Hormone Balancing Overnight Oats


Postnatal nutrition doesn’t stop after the first 40 days, it’s only just the beginning. Nourish your body with these quick, easy and delicious overnight oats which contain:

  • Oats - provide slow releasing energy and are balancing to the nervous system

  • Chia seeds - high in omega 3 fatty acids, protein, fibre and minerals. They are anti-inflammatory and are beneficial for digestive health, bone health and balancing blood sugar

  • Maca - an adaptogen which has a great affinity with the endocrine system, balancing hormones

  • Ashwagandha - an adaptogen which in Ayurveda is known as ‘strength of a horse’ and is revered for its building, strengthening and nourishing nature making it a fantastic herb for mamas

Ingredients (serves 1)

  • 1 medium organic apple, grated

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

  • 2 tsp chia seeds

  • handful dried mulberries

  • 1 tsp maca powder

  • 1 tsp ashwagandha powder

  • 1 cup plant milk

To serve:

  • coconut yoghurt

  • fresh/frozen berries

  • toasted pumpkin and sunflower seeds

Directions

Add oats, chia seeds, mulberries, maca and ashwagandha to a bowl and stir to combine. Next add in the grated apple and plant milk, mixing it all together. Leave in the fridge overnight. In the morning add a splash more milk if needed, a spoonful of coconut yoghurt, berries and the toasted seeds.

And there you have an extremely simple and nourishing breakfast!
