Pregnancy

The ability of a woman’s body to create life is truly incredible and without a doubt a life changing experience. Preparing your body for this wondrous task is one of the best gifts you can give to yourself and your unborn child.

Often starting a few months before conception, I work with women to optimise their health through hormonal balancing, enhancing detoxification capabilities, correcting any nutrient deficiencies and introducing positive lifestyle practices in order to promote a problem free pregnancy. Throughout pregnancy we optimise key nutrients required for the development of your baby, enhance digestion and absorption and adapt dietary intake according to the evolving needs of you and your baby.

Evidence shows that a healthy diet during pregnancy promotes the overall long-term health of your baby. Ensuring all your nutritional needs are met also promotes postpartum healing and greatly reduces the chances of depletion during the fourth trimester.

Postpartum

The so called ‘fourth trimester’ is a time of bonding, learning, adapting and healing, whether this is your first child or not. In traditional cultures the new mother would be cared for by family members so that she could concentrate on her newborn baby and rest to promote the healing that is so fundamental during this time.

I am incredibly passionate about providing women with postpartum support using both nutritional and lifestyle recommendations. By doing a bit of planning for the fourth trimester and taking steps to ensure your needs are met, we ensure a much smoother transition for both yourself and your baby, reduce the likelihood of experiencing postnatal depression, mastitis or breastfeeding issues, as well as promote the long term health of you and your child.

Taking the time to heal fully from the incredibly demanding journey of pregnancy and childbirth is fundamental for your long term health.

Infant Nutrition

Healthy eating habits are formed right from the very beginning. As parents, we have the ability to create solid foundations for our children’s long term health.

Infancy is a time of rapid development - physically, mentally and emotionally. Meeting macro and micro nutrient needs during this time enables your child to thrive.

Feeding a toddler is not always a straight forward task and periods of little food intake can leave parents worrying. The environment we create around food, routines we enforce, our attitudes and behaviors, are all as important as the food itself.

I equip parents with the knowledge they need in order to meet the nutritional demands of their children whilst also providing guidance on how to establish a healthy relationship to food.

Plantbased Nutrition

With the ever growing evidence base showing the health promoting properties of a plantbased diet, more and more people are adopting this way of eating. Switching to a whole foods plantbased diet has been shown to greatly improve conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, hormonal imbalances, skin disorders, inflammatory conditions and more.

A plantbased diet is one that receives the majority of its energy, but not necessarily all of it, from foods of plant origin and minimal amounts from animal products. Many individuals are consciously choosing to eat this way for ethical and environmental reasons.

If you are already including more plantbased foods in your life and would like more clarity on what is right for you or if you would like to transition to a whole foods plant based diet then I can guide you on the healthiest way to do this.
